On Thursday night of this week,
provided there are not too many
students ill with measles, and flu, the
elementary band and chorus will pre
sent their Spring concert in the ele
mentary gymnasium. The program
will commence promptly at 7:30.
The chorus is under the direction of
Doris M. Sheythe, and accompanied
by Alice M. Smith, pianist. The band
includes students from Grades 5, 6,
7 and 8, and is directed by Earl W.
Loucks. The public is invited.
Both of these groups have been
doing an outstanding job this school
year in their choral and instrumental
classes. They recently presented con
certs at Lyons and Harrisburg, in re
sponse to invitations from the public
school systems in both places. Fol
lowing the Harrisburg concert the
entire group was taken to Benton-
Lane park for an afternoon of recrea
tion where they enjoyed swimming,
roller skating, outdoor concession
rides, and other entertainment.
The beginners’ band, also directed
by Mr. Loucks and including children
from the fourth grade level, will give
their concert Monday night, May 18,
in the band room at the elementary
school.
