It is believed by the Mill City
club that the attendance of 1,000 at

There will be a full field of riders.
Entries are expected from Bend, Rose
burg, Eugene, Salem, Corvallis, Leb­
anon, Albany, Oregon City, Port
land and Mill City.

Another added attraction for this
race is the showing of antique auto­
mobiles by the Silver T Horseless
Carriage club of Salem. They expect

Present Spring Concert Father of Former
Here Thursday Night Merchant Dies Monday
On Thursday night of this week,

sent their Spring concert in the ele­
mentary gymnasium. The program
will commence promptly at 7:30.
The chorus is under the direction of
Doris M. Sheythe, and accompanied
by Alice M. Smith, pianist. The band
includes students from Grades 5, 6,
7 and 8, and is directed by Earl W.
Loucks. The public is invited.
Both of these groups have been
doing an outstanding job this school
year in their choral and instrumental
classes. They recently presented con­
certs at Lyons and Harrisburg, in re­
sponse to invitations from the public
school systems in both places. Fol­
lowing the Harrisburg concert the
entire group was taken to Benton-
Lane park for an afternoon of recrea­
tion where they enjoyed swimming,
roller skating, outdoor concession
rides, and other entertainment.
The beginners’ band, also directed
by Mr. Loucks and including children
from the fourth grade level, will give
their concert Monday night, May 18,
in the band room at the elementary
school.

Wins in Jaycee Contest
Charles C. “Chick” Mason, well-
known sportsman of Detroit, is the
first winner in the Mill City Jaycee’s
fishing gear raffle. Chick’s name wa<
drawn last Wednesday in the first
of 10 weekly drawings to be held by
the Jaycees. He chose a spinning rod.
The next drawing will be held at
the Jaycee hall Wednesday evening.
The public is invited, but it is not
necessary to be present to win.
Tickets are on sale at the Sportsman's
Center, Verne’s Clip Joint, Jack's
Richfield, or any Jaycee member.

New Rest Rooms
Added to Drive In
Jim Haley, owner of the Mill City
Drive In has been working putting
on an addition to the west side of
the Drive In building. The new space
■will be usd feor rest rooms and stor­
age. Elmer Stewart has been assist­
ing wtih the project.
This will be a great additioa to
the service for the traveling public.
Jim said if the public will cooperate
they will maintain “home clean”
