Mrs. Busby is the form- i er Carol Cooke, a 1958 graduate of South Salem High. Busby, a Navy : man, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Har- ‘ old Busby of Independence. The Cooks left for Long Beach several days ago, and planned so stop en- | route to visit their son, James, at Oakland, who will graduate this June from the University of California Law school. Albert Toman went to Prineville Monday forenoon where he met Mrs. Toman, who had been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Art Robison ; in Spray, for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Chichee-ter and sons have recently moved from S. W. Spring street to the Marion side of the river They now live on the Baird house on N. W. River road. Mr. and Mrs. Don Moffatt spent the weekend in Beaverton with Mr. and .Mrs J. D. Frace and daughters. Mother away on her big day? Elsetta Kirsch Honor Guest at Brides Shower W. H. Payne ana stena Miner were married in Hamilton, Illinois, April 26, 1899. They came west in 1914, liv­ ing >n Montana and Wyoming until 1929 when they settled in Roseburg, Oregon, on a farm. He also worked for the Forestry Service Department un­ til his retirement. The Paynes later moved to Sweet Home, and from there to Mill City four years ago. Their family consist­ ed of four daughters, the oldest pass­ ing away in 1939. The next daughter (Meribeth), Mrs. Jack Wills, a form­ er resident of Mill City who now re­ sides in California; the third daugh­ ter, Mrs. H. E. Kruse (Pearl) lives in Roseburg; and the fourth daughter, M rs. D. F. Moore (Clarice) lives n Portland. They have 14 grandchild- ten, and 20 great grandchildren A small reception was given by the ne.gh1 ora honoring the Payne’s 60th anniver.-ary at the home of their g’andsoi, and wife. Mr. and Mrs. R.
