Oregon Highway Traffic Increases 9.7% Over Last Oct. Says Report Mme. Chiang Kai-shek, wife of •he Chinese Nationalist leader, on a recent speaking tour of the U. S. Oregon highway traffic increased 9.7 per cent during October 1958, compared to October 1957, according to the State Highway Department's monthly count recorded at 63 locations throughout the state. October was the first month to show an increase over 1957 since May, when the count was 1 per ent greater than May of 1957, and the only substantial increase since January. For the first 10 months of the year, 1958 remained ahead of 1957 by 0.7 per cent with urban traffic up 2.9 per cent for the same period. The increase in traffic during Oct ober was partly due to the onenir g of the deer season.
