It was decided since the home extension has only been organized for a short time here the officers al ready inctailed would serve again next year. They are as follows: Chairman, Mrs. Warren Stoll; vice i chairman, Mrs. Herb Wenke; Secre tary-treasurer, Lydia Williamson and | in charge of refreshments. Mrs. John Savage. Meetings ! will resume in October. Misses Linda and Lana Lee Storey of Corvallis were overnight visitors Saturday with relatives. . Mrs. Dave (Zeta) Oja was ad- | mitted to the Veteran’s hospital in Portland Friday, where she will un- | dergo major surgery this week. Several people from Detroit-Idanha attended the funeral services for Mrs. William Ficker Thursday at Mill City. The Fickers formerly resided at the old town of Detroit before moving to Mill City. Gary Snyder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Snyder of Portland is spending two weeks with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Snyder. Mrs. Ida Rines of Bend is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Len Davis for a few days. Sandra Youngblood left on the bus Monday for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Nygaard of Springfield. Frank Shepard and son, Buzzy, visited the Ed Jackson's over the week end. Mr. Shepard is Mrs. Jackson's father. Mr. and Mrs. Al Sorseth of the Detroit Ranger station attended a farewell party Sunday afternoon in Eugene at the home of Bob Aufder- heide, supervisor of the Willamette Forest, for a forest service employe. I Steve and Craig Sorseth «pent the weekend at Sweet Home with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sports- man. Glen Lyda, pastor of the Detroit Church of Christ, was ordained Sun day afternoon at the Turner Christian church. Rev. G. E. Williams, former pastor of the Detroit church gave th* ordination prayer. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Juhl and family, Mrs. Mabel Moore and Mrs. Ella Johnson attended the service. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Stoll and family visited Mr. Stoll’s nephew, the Robert Liermans at Victor Point Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carlson from Burns were overnight guests Sat urday at Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Ebars. The Carlsons are Mrs. Ebar's par ents. Miss Gloria Evensen from Salem was an overnight guest Saturday of Miss Becky Stoll. Miss Stoll then motored Miss Evensen home Sunday afternoon. Earl Lady and John Houck were weekend visitors at Kinzua with James Houck, who is employed there. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Wenke and family spent Sunday in Portland. They enjoyed seeing the car show and the children were well pleased with a ride on the zoo-liner which has been added at the zoo. The Lucky Eleven 4-H club met at the home of Mrs. Sandra Tompkins Monday afternoon with nine members present. One visitor, Linda Chapman, attended the meeting. The girls judged cookies preparatory to the "Home Economics Judging Contest" which will be held in Salem June 26. I The next meeting will be held June 23 at Margaret Bakers. Milo (Bill) Harris arrived Monday with some heavy equipment he is moving from Sanger, Calif. Mrs. Harris plans on joining her husband here Tuesday. Mrs. Earl Lady was in Salem Mon day where she received treatment for the hives. Cause or this very painful allergy is not yet known. District Commander and Mrs. Nor man Apple and District President Mrs Katherine Garson of Salem were in charge. Auxiliary officers installed were: President, Mrs. Sylvia Wenke; first vice president, Mrs. Edna Lady; second vice president, Mrs. Jessie Savage; secretary, Mrs. Rilla Shaf fer; treasurer, Mrs. Opal Leming; Sgt. at Arms, Mrs. Alptia Everly; Chaplain, Frieda Heibert; Historian, Mrs. Dorothy Graham. Legion officers installed were: Commander, Jeff Leming; first vice commander, Jim Geibler; Adjutant, Wayne Tompkins; Finance Officer, Warren Stoll; Service Officer, Rus sell Reid; Sgt. at Arms, Fred Miller; Chaplain, Quincy Smith; Historian, Henry Heibert. Pinochle was played after the in stallation. The Legion furnished a ham with Mrs. Warren Stoll doing the baking. Pot luck was furnished by the Auxiliary members. But the number of drivers who lost their licenses was only six per cent of those who ran into trouble. Oregon Courts reported 1 a total of 13,369 traffic violation con- , victions for May. Driving while intoxicated account- 1 ed for the largest number of 771 li cense suspensions, 250, while another 149 drivers lost their license because of poor driving records, the Depart ment of Motor Vehicles’ report said. Additional periods of suspension were handed out to 105 drivers who I were found to be driving while sus I pended.
