Mrs. Gordon Brown returned to her
home in Detroit Sunday, following
surgery at a Bend hospital Wednes
day of last week. Also returning
home last week was Mrs. Anna Stev
ens, who underwent sinus surgery at
t Salem hospital.
Mrs. Mabel Moore, postmaster, has
been busy lately painting the exterior
of the post office. She reported that
90% of the building is finished, la
addition she has painted the store
room and garage on the premises.
Her present plan is to paint the ex
terior of her home on the hill. Home
fences taken on the new look this
summer are the EaTl Laymans, the
John Esteys and the Harold Cham-
pious. The Champions are still in tfte
process of painting the exterior of
their home.
Visiting last week at the home of
the Charles Litchlitre home in Idan
ha, were Mr. and Mrs. Burley Coffee
and children of Roseburg. The Cof
fee’s were former residents of Idan-
ha.
Returning last week to Idanha
from Raton, N. M., were Mr. and
Mrs. Allen McCauley and their eight
children. The McCauley family moved
to Raton early this spring where Mr.
McCauley reportedly was employed
at the Huber Ray mill there. Bad
luck dogged the family on this ad
venture and they were more than
happy to return to good old Oregon,
and their former home town, Idanha.
Visiting at the Frank Moore home
in Idanha for the past three we»ks
was Mrs. Moore’s mother, Mrs. Fred
Berthau of Bakersfield, Calif.
The
Moore’s accompanied her to Salem
Saturday, where she entrained for her
home.
Making preparations to move from
Idanha this month is the George
Humphrey family, who will move to
Mill City this weekend. The Gerald
Rosemond family will move to Gates
the 17th and the Frank Moore fam
ily plan to move to Mill Citv on the
10th.
Tuesday visitors at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Marion Aiderman in
Idanha, were Mrs. Alderman's sister
and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mc-
Clay and children of Seattle, Wash.
Families picking huckleberries and
blackberries in the area report a
bumper crop this year. Reports are
that huckleberries are plentiful in the
Elk lake area. Roads to the lake are
reported as rough.
Rain visited this area Saturday ■
evening, and again Monday and
Tuesday. Mrs. Mabel Parker, official
weather bureau recorder reported
that nearly a half inch of rainfall
was recorded in a two-day period.
Sunday morning'* recording was .36
of an inch, and Tuesday morning’s
recording was .21 of an inch. Only
a trace of rain fell through the day
Monday.
