Mrs. I). B. Hill has been critically ill at Salem General hospital follow ing major surgery last Friday, but was reported as somewhat improved by Tuesday of this week. It is ex pected that she will remain in the hospital for about two weeks, and that it will be some time before she is able to receive visitors at her home. Mr. Hill’s sister, Mrs. Gladys Trask of Fresno, is staying at the Hill home. Mr. and Mrs. Don Moffatt and son, Brian, returned Sunday after noon from Paradise, Calif., where they had spent Thanksgiving day with Mrs. Moffatt’s mother, Mrs. O. E. Schultz, and her sister, Mrs. Naida Nelson. Chains were necessary when going over Santiam pass Wednes day morning, but only as far as Sis ters. They drove in snow and snow storms off and on until they arrived at Redding, Calif. On the return trip they came via the coastal route and encountered no road difficulty.
