The project of the day will be “foundation garments.” Dorothy Brown, extension agent from Albany will be present to give the demonstration. The Lyons Methodist church will join in Union Thanksgiving services with the Mehama Community Pres byterian church. The short service will be held Thanksgiving morning at 10:30 in the Mehama church. Everyone is invited to bring their families. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lierman, Ronnie, Richard and Cheryl of Stayton, were Sunday guests at the home of her mother, Mrs. Leota Worden and Marjorie. The Mari-Linn school was among | the schools to be closed due to the i severe weather last week. The icy roads made it too hazardous for the school buses to make their trip. Saturday evening visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Huber and family, were her parents, Mr. and Mrs Eldon Mulkey of Pendle ton. Sunday, December 5th, the film Martin Luther, will be shown at the Lyons Methodist church. Everyone is welcome to attend and see the pic ture. Mrs. Inez Ring went to Portland Tuesday, where she will spend the Thanksgiving holiday at the home of her grandson, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Trask and family. Mrs. Alice Huber spent Sunday in Mill City, at the home of her sister, Mrs. James Swan. The Lyons Methodist church, next Sunday will begin a nursery in the basement of the church, during the [, worship hour. ~ Mr. and Mrs. Harry Reeves and son, Billie, of Portland, were Sun day afternoon visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Hiatt and her mother, Mrs. Cora Jenner. Mr. Reeves is a brother of Mrs. Jenner and an uncle of Mrs. Hiatt. Mr. and Mrs. Don Polk, Terry and Linda of Salem, were Sunday after noon and evening guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. Manning and sons, Richie and Larry. Friday evening visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bassett were Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Raines and sons, Allan and Gerald, from Happy Camp, Calif., also her moth er, Mrs. Arnold Syverson of Mill City. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bassett were Sunday afternoon visitors at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Mabel Turn er, at Independence. Tuesday, November 15, at 10 a. m. marked the beginning of the six- week WSCS study course on the writings of five great Christian men, how Augustine, Thomas A’Kempis, Brother Lawrence William Law and Thomas Kelly sought to find God. Besides the Lyons ladies, five were present from Stayton, joining the course taught by Joanne Scott each Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock. A pot luck dinner was served at the noon hour, followed by the regu lar meeting of the WSCS with Eve lyn Sexton president in charge, and Leoa Johnson acting secretary due to the absence of Ethel Huffman. Orpha Roye lead the devotions as sisted by Alta Bodeker and Frances Cruson. Plans were made to have a cooked food sale, December 10, with Reta Cruson as chairman. Y arious plans were discussed for the coming months, with the Tamale sale to be held some time the first of January. Attending were Inez Ring, Orpha Roye, Evelyn Sexton, Naomi Int- Veld, Frances Cruson, Martha Cru son, Reta Cruson, Eva Bressler, Alta Bodeker and Leoa Johnson. Due to the weather the meeting of the pre-school mothers which was scheduled for Wednesday even ing. November 16 was cancelled, and the next meeting will be held Decem ber 21 at the home of Mrs. Gerald Rockwell.
