Twenty-nine youngsters from the
first and second grades of the Gates
school were invited by Mrs. William
Pennick, to her home Friday after
noon, in compliment to her son, Billie,
who was celebrating his sixth birth
day. Party games and the opening of
gifts provided entertainment for Bil
lie and his little guests until time
for the birthday cake and ice cream.
Mrs. Martha Bowes was hostess at
dinner, at her home Sunday, compli
menting her son and bride, Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Bowes upon their return
that day from their honeymoon trip.
Mrs. Bowes had as her guests the
honored couple, Mr. and Mrs. Bowes,
the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Charles T. Schobert, of Portland, Mrs.

Mrs. Bertha Shepherd, who has

was taken to the Santiam Memorial
hospital last week, where she will be
until her recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. William Pennick cele

at the Pennick home in observance
of the occasion were Mr. and Mrs.
Clavsie Amman and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Glen Cochran and family both
from Jefferson, and Mrs. Pennick’s
uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Lionel
Colgan, from Astoria.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Eccleston had

From where I sit, we could all
learn a little from Slim's experi
