For Trip to Honolulu
Mrs. W. W. Allen leaves Salem

. to Honolulu on Saturday. While in
San Francisco Mrs. Allen will be the
guest of Mr. and Mrs. Claire Ol­
sen.
Mrs. Allen will spend about two
months in Hawaii as the guest of her
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Allen. She will be there dur­
ing Aloha Week, which is the out­
standing Hawaiian festival of the
year, held each October.
While in Honolulu Mrs. Allen plans I
to see Mr. and Mrs. William Wach­
ter and his son.
Mr. Wachter is
a former resident of Mill City, gradu­
ating from high school here. He is
now head of the engineering depart­
ment of the University of Hawaii.
Mrs. Allen will return home early
in December, sailing from Honolulu
on the Lurline on November 24 and
¡arriving in San Francisco the 30th.
Mrs. D. B. Hill entertained a group
of friends last Friday evening in
honor of Mrs. Allen. She was pre­
sented with a gift. The centerpieces
for the refreshment tables cleverly
featured aeroplanes.

Mrs. Ed Rupp of Salem entertained
members of the Women’s Associa­
tion of the Presbyterian church at

nesday afternoon of last week. Mrs.
Rupp is a former resident of Mill
City.

Duffy, W. W. Allen, Verne Clark,
Ida Geddes and Miss Daisy Geddis.

Women’s Council Holds
Meeting Wednesday P. M.
At a meeting of the Woman's
Council of the Christian Church held
Wednesday afternoon of last week in
the church basement, plans were
made for the cooked food sale, ba­
zaar and noon luncheon which will be
held October 11.
Mrs. Elmer Shaw, president, ap­
pointed the following committee chair­
men: kitchen, Mrs. Frank Caraway;
dining room, Mrs. William Misner;
bazaar, Mrs. Ike Meyers; and cooked
food, Mrs. C. A. Bruder.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott left Friday
night for the area east of Bend hunt­
ing. They got their deer Saturday
morning and returned here Sunday.
Mrs. Scott stated it was so cold
