Marvin F. Bibler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bibler of Salem. A late August wedding is planned. Miss Kuhlman graduated from Mill City high school and attended Oregon State College where she is a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Cpl. Bibler is in the U. S. Marines and is stationed at El Toro, Calif., where the couple will make their home after the wedding. GATES—Carol Sue Ball was twelve years old Saturday. To help her celebrate the happy occasion, her mother, Mrs. Clarence Ball, invited a number of her friends to her home for an afternoon of fun. Party games, the opening of gifts and refreshments provided amusement for the group which included Donna Kee, of Long- beach, Calif., Darlene Joaquin, Patsy Pennick, Charlene and Cheryl Evans, Jean Martig, Kandee Henness, Ma- belle Blackburn, and Connie Stewart. Assisting the hostess were her mot­ her and sister, Mrs. Arthur Black­ burn and Mrs. Clare Henness. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Smith of Mill City drove to Longview, Wash., Sat­ urday. They returned Sunday, accom­ panied by their daughter who had spent a two weeks vacation in that city. Mr. and Mrs. Van Prichard of Lyons, parents of Mrs. Smith, were with them to Longview. Beau ford Flatman, accompanied by Delores Meals and her father, John Meals, spent Sunday at Detroit Lake fishing. They reported no luck but that another party by the name of Braddock and his son from Gates, caught 17, all of them good sized. Post-Nuptial Shower Is Given For Mrs. Don Bates GATES—Mrs. Glen Henness, Mrs. Merle Devine and Mrs. Burr el Cole were hostesses Saturday evening in the recreation rooms of the high school at a post-nuptial shower. complimenting Mrs. Don Bates, nee Joan Ry al, a bride of two weeks. Games and the opening of the many lovely and useful gifts received, pro­ vided entertainment for the evening. Dainty refreshments were served by the hostesses at a table beautifully decorated for the occasion. Seated were the honored guest, Mrs. Bates, and her mother, Mrs. Barney Ryal; her aunt from Salem, Mrs. O. S. Mc­ Gee; the groom’s mother, Mrs. Byron Bates of Mill City and Mesdames Hen­ ry Eccleston, Clarence Ball and Carol Sue, Clarence Rush, Clyde Morgan, Lyle Rush and Diane of Salem, Clare Henness and Kandee, George Staf­ ford, John Watson, Floyd Völkel, Wal­ ter Brisbin, Albert Millsap and the Misses Betty Watson, Isabelle Black­ burn and Lorena Devine.
