with the Thanksgiving theme.

Conklin pledges, “If elected sheriff,
I will co-operate fully with religious,
civic and other good government
groups, with special attention given
to youth problems.
“I will stop the tremendous turn
over of personnel by acquiring com
petent deputies and maintaining a
businesslike and equitable office,
which will tend to create the good
will necessary to hold these men.
"I will make the Civil Defense or-
ganizations, including the Sheriff's
Reserve, organizations for and of the
people.
"I will attempt to extradite only
for good cause with the view always
in mind of saving the tax payer as
much as possible.
“I will eliminate overlapping of
enforcement functions between the
Sheriff, city and state police.”
Conklin is of the opinion that the
office of sheriff should not be held
longer than two terms. He indicated
that a number of times, a sheriff may
serve only two terms.
