Shelton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Shelton, was ordained to the Christian ministry in a significant service in the Mill City Christian church last Sunday evening. Lt. Co). Robert Ellis Key of London, England, this week was named presi dent of the the Mother Church, the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston at its annual meeting attended Girods Super Market ' ON THE HIGHWAY LT. CO!,. ROBERT ELLIS KEY at STAYTON by Chritsian Scientists from al) over the world. Colonel Key is associate editor of the Christian Science religious period icals and formerly served as a lecturer. He is a Christian Science practitioner and has been an authorized teacher of the religion since 1937. He first became active in Christian Science more than 40 years ago. In World War I he was decorated by the British army with the Order of the British Empire, and granted the permanent rank of lieutenant colonel. He left the army in 1920 and in 1923 he began to devote all his time to Christian Science work. Before and during World War II he served as district manager of commit tees on publication for Great Britain and Ireland, and in various capacities in connection with Christian Science Wartime Activities in Europe. He will continue a associate editor during his one-year term as president. His new appointment was announced by the Christian Science board of di rectors. Miss Glavan. her parents and brother were brought to this country by Mr. and Mrs. Epps. He met them in Italy where he served for two years with AAF. Mrs. Epps is an Emanuel hospital graduate nurse and influenced Mira's choice of hospitals. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Redmond spent the weekend in Seattle. The Redmonds are mov ing back to Mill City. Mrs. Ruth Witt, Rudy Tohl, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Flatman spent the weekend fishing at Crane Prairie. Good catches were reported. x x x x x x x x x X X Dan Muller (above left), besides being the legal ward, biographer, and lifetime friend of Col. William F. Cody (Buffalo Bill), famous Indian scout, is a qualified author, artist, and cowhand in his own right. Here, he “reads" the brands on the new “Hot Irons” boot, made by the Albert H. Weinbrenner Co., of Milwaukee, to Tommy Miller. Mi. Muller, who now runs the Cross-Up Ranch in Nevada, tells Tommy that his new boots bear authentic brands of many of the top Western cow outfits . . spreads that are personally known to him through his having ranged the cow country from the mesas to the rimrocks and through his travels with Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Shows and Rodeos. Cowman-author-artist Dan Muller has written and illustrated a book telling about his life with Buffalo Bill. SHELTON Coming from out-of-town to par ticipate in the ordination service were the following: Hubert E. Sias, min ister of the Mallory Avenue Christian i church, who preached the ordination sermon and pronounced the benedic- ! tion; Lynton Elwell, minister of the Monmouth Christian church, who gave the charge to the candidate; F. C. Stephens, former minister, now a guest in the Turner Memorial Home,1 who read the Scripture lessons and offered the ordination prayer; Eddie Drapela, an elder in the Lebanon 1 church, who assisted in the laying on ' of hands and, with his wife, provided special music; and C. P. Smith, rep-1 resenting the eldership of the Mal lory Avenue church, who also assisted j the local eldership in the laying on of . hands. Minister H. E. Jull of the local con gregation presided at the service, and elder Glenn E. Shelton and elder Joe I Vaughan, now residing at Lebanon, represented the Mill City church in ! the service. Tom had made his home in and near Mill City for several years, and was graduated from the local high school in 1945.
