Hunt New Eagle Head Basketball Banquet Enjoyed Tuesday Girods Super Market ON THE HIGHWAY at STAYTON Gates— Tuesday evening, April 1. the annual basketball banquet for the Gates high school teams was held in the dinning room of the school with the dads of the boys as guests. A tur key dinner was prepared by several mothers of the teams, Mrs. Burrel Cole, Mrs. Glen Henness, Mrs. Merle Devine, Mrs. Velma Carey, and Mrs. Louisa Romey, assisted by Mrs. Ho ward Means. Serving were the yell leaders, Lorena Devine, Joan Ryal and Elda Webster. The Easter motif was used in the table decorations. Howard Means, high school coach, acted as toastmaster and introduced the guest speaker, Vernon Gilmore, Athletic Rirector of the Salem High. Marlin Cole, captain of the A team and Allan Vail, of the B team each were called upon for short talks. Seat ed at the table were special guests, Vernon Gilmore, Howard Means, Don Miley, superintendent, Harold Wilson and Floyd Völkel. Fathers present were Burrel Cole, Glen Henness, Merle Devine, Stanley Vail, Gilbert Brosig. Bob Oliver, Bill Havener, Harry Har mon, Byron Bates and A.T. Barnhardt. The boys honored were Earl Henness, Marlin Cole, Bobbie Devine, Allan Vail, Jerry I .arson. Jack Oliver, Bob Lee, Eddie Butler. Wilmer Crites, Don Bates and John Barnhardt.
