Mrs. Doreen Fowler Has
Pinochle Hostess Spot
It was an eventful meeting for
Marilyn Chapter No. 145 O.E.S., Mon­
day night, Dec. 10, in the Mill City
I.O.O.F. hall. Degrees were conferred
and an election of officers held.
Degrees were conferred on Nancy
Haseman and Monroe and Roberta
Ray. These persons were presented
pins by their respective parents. A
beautiful floral degree was put on in
honor of Lois Scott, worthy matron;
and Floyd Johnson, worthy patron.
Marilyn Chapter, O.E.S., election
results indicated that Halle Toman
was elected worthy matron for the
ensuing year.
Wilson Stevens was
chosen, worthy patron; Laurell John­
son, associate matron; George Huff­
man, asociate patron; Betty Tinney,
conductress: and Stella Kay, associate
conductress.
Refreshments were served after the
business part of the meeting by the
men. Wilson Stevens had charge of
the committee.
Installation of the newly elected
O.E.S. officers will be January 7, 1952.
The public is invited to this colorful
ceremony.
Mrs. Doreen Fowler ushered in the
pre-holiday sitting of Gates Lucky
Twelve pinochle club. Hostess Fowler
served her guests a dessert lunch of
tasty sandwiches and salad, this
Thursday.
Mrs. Inez Teal played handsomely
and was rewarded by having first
prize presented to her. Distributing
the traveling and second prizes was
no trouble since Mrs. Rosella Hay­
wood received both.

at 7:30 p.m. by the pupils of the Mari-
Linn school in the r.ew gymnasium.
“Christmas Around The World” de­
picting Christmas in seven countries
was written by members of the teach­
ing staff, especially adapted for the
occasion. The seven countries in-
elude:
Scene 1 Holland, directed by Katie
Skinllings; Scene 2 —Mexico, directed
by Hazel Wirth; Scene 3—England,
directed by Norma Miller; Scene 4—
France, directed by Thomas Putman;
Scene 5—Ireland, directed by Ralph
Hurst; Scene 6-—Germany, directed by
Elva Kuiken; Scene 7--America; di­
rected by Ivan Smith.
The complete program is diected by
Miss Vivian Boyce musical instructor
of the Mari-Linn school with Mrs.
Martha Poole as accompanist. In
addition to the pageant an upper
grade and lower grade choir will add
to the program. Also new on the
program this year will be a number by
the pre-school children.
