Aviation Day’s Events Engulf Life of Cities Beginning Saturday night before the Third Annual Aviation Day, Sunday, July 15, Mill City and Gates citizens turned their attenton towards things tinted heavily with the colour of air planes. The Queen's Hop tn the Mill City high school gym Saturday night grandly heralded the era of Queen Carol Jane Blazek’s reign as ruler of the Third Annual Aviation Day festivity at Davis Airport. Mrs. Eva Waldren, noted Oregon aviatrix, <rowned Miss Blazek, the Queen dur ing colorful ceremonies at Davis Air port, Sunday morning. A fine set of silverware was pre sented to Miss Blazek; and each of the princesses, Adaline MacDonald, Lorena Devine and Donna Ellingson, received a charming necklace. The gifts were provided by the Mill City- Gates chambers of commerce. Into the midst of the ceremonies attendant the crowning of the Queen of the Third Annual Aviation Day, Miss Carol Jane Blazek, and a breath less audience strode Oregon’s Walk ing Man, Paul Smith. Using his now familiar “rizam” stride. Smith hiked the trans-mountain trek from Bend to Davis Airport, 100 miles. Smith’s walking time 17 hours, six minutes and 16 seconds. Mill City-Gates ihambers of commerce extend their thanks to Art Ladd, president of the Sisters chamber of commerce, and Sisters Chief of Police Harry Bedwell for their warm and hearty welcome of the Oregon Walking Man. The Sisters delegation inspired Smith on in this his greatest feat. The unusual task of picking the longest, most artistic, and desirable mustache fell to Queen Carol Jane.
