By MRS. OPAL WHITE
The final day of school at Detroit
high was celebrated by a picnic.
Things started popping around 10
a.m. when the students left by bus
for Breitenbush Springs.
Games
were played there until noon when a
typical picnic lunch was provided by
the various students. Potato salad,
sandwiches, pie, pop and a variety
of other food stuffs were on the
menu. The hour following lunch
was spent in games, walks through
the woods, or just plain relaxation
until the time arrived for swimming.
Some thirty-five students and the
teachers, Mr. White, Mrs. Charlene
Hanan, Mr. Stanley Whipple and
Miss Kazi Inuzuko were present for
an enjoyable time, that is, if their
weariness is any proof there must
have been a very great deal of fun.
All four high school teachers have
been rehired for the next year. Those |
residing in Portland and Milwaukee, i
respectively Miss Kazuko Inuzuko |
and Mr. Stanley Whipple, will attend
Lewis and Clarke summer school
this summer.
Returning school teachers who have
signed contracts for the coming year
are Mrs. William Cokenour, (who
will teach as a substitute until attend
ance falls off in the late fall), Mrs.
Alice Perkins, Mrs. Elsie Hoyt, Mrs.
Nolan Rasnick, Mrs. Gladys Claxton,
[Mrs. Mildred Ray. Mrs. Al Warby
has been newly selected for the
seventh grade; and Miss Minnie B.

in Lane county, but who has been
visiting in Kansas and Arkansas for
