two different fund-raising methods
being used. The boys of the high
school have been collecting scrap
metal for the past two weeks, mostly
cast iron, copper aluminum, etc.
It would be appreciated if anyone
who has some old engine blocks, radi
ators, or other scrap metal would call
Mr. Boroughs at Mill City high school,
it will be picked up.
Another phase of the fund-raising
is the sale of season tickets for both
softball and football. Either ducat
goes for five bucks, or both for $7.50.
Price includes almost thirty softball
games and four home games of foot
ball. Just twenty-two cents a game

For the past few days, the tennis
court has been a meeting place for
teen-age tennis "stars” as bright,
sunny days bless us.
The Gates and Mill City high school
baseball teams have been playing a
series of practice games on the Mill
City high school field. Thus far the
Timberwolves have won both games,
the first, a four inning tilt, by a
score of 1 to 0, and a seven-inning
game by a score of 6 to 5. Batteries
for Gates: Wimp Crites, Marlin Cole
and Earl Henness; for Mill City:
Baltimore, Ward, Chase, and Peter-
son. Detroit’s high school team came
to Mill City for a practice session
Wednesday after school and played
a four inning tilt which ended with
the Timberwolves on top, five to
nothing. Detroit had had only one
practice session this season as the
snow has just melted off the field
up there.
The baseball game schedule for Mill
City high during the 1951 season is
as follows:
March 23—Mill City at Gates.
March 30—Jefferson at Mill City.
April 6—Mill City at Sublimity.
April 13—Chemawa at Mill City.
April 20—Gervais at Mill City.
April 27—St. Paul at Mill City.
May 4—Mill City at Detroit.
The Timberwolves first baseball
game of the season will be played at
Mill City on March 30 with Jeffer
son as visitors. The game with Gates
will be played later in the season.
