MEHAMA By JEAN ROBERTS The women of Mehama who be long to various organizations have a busy month planned for April. The Ladies Aid of the Community church are planning a dinner and white elephant sale on April 19 as a fund raiser towards purchase of a piano for the primary Sunday school class. Chairman of the white ele phant sale, which is composed of any useful household item, is Mrs. Howard Ross. The committee in charge of the dinner are Mrs. Harry Monroe, Mrs. Keith Phillips and Mrs. Ray Roberts. Another activity planned for April is a pie social sponsored by the Me hama Womens’ club. Proceeds from the sale will defray part of the cost of building material for a new house for Bert Parsons, whose present home will soon be destroyed by highway construction. The pie social will be held April 14. Other entertainment also has been planned for the eve ning. Mrs. Carmen McDonald is in charge of the entertainment. Jack Alloway and Ivan Darby have volun teered their services in the building of the proposed house. Still another undertaking is a cen terpiece contest entry which will rep resent Mehama at the Home Exte sion festival. The committee in charge of the centerpiece was ap pointed at the last meeting; and it was voted to model a replica of thd Detroit dam for the entry. Mrs. Cowdry, chairman of the committee, plans starting the entry soon, as it must be completed by April 21. Mrs. Ercill Wilson is confined at home with a broken leg. The acci dent occurred Saturday night when the family automobile was halted un expectedly and scooted her off the seat. School youngsters attending uni versities in southern Oregon and other places were home for a spring vaca tion over the Easter holiday. Those visiting their parents were Phyllis Wallen, Susee Teeters, Gerald Branch and Donna Lee Dunbar. Miss Phyllis McCarey and Miss Alameda Coffman attended the Rain bow Girls Grand assembly at Seaside last week. They were gone four days and reported a good time. •Mr. and Mrs. Bob Draper spent several days in Portland last week at the home of Mr. Draper’s mother. Women’s club met last week and made plans for a rummage sale in May. A short skit and song was presented by the Bluebird organiza tion. Mrs. Dorothy Bilyeu and Mrs. Oran Small were hostesses.
