Mr. and Mrs. Dale Boyd of Salem spent Sunday at the home of Mrs. Boyd’s grandmother, Mrs. Lula Col- lins. Mrs. W. B. Peetz, who resides at the home of her son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Hutcheson, left the last of the week for Oakland, Calif., where she will visit at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Ander son and with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Peetz. Mr. and Mrs. Burrel Cole have re ceived word from their son, Thurlo, who is with the U. S. Navy in Korea that he is on his way home on leave and his arrival is expected soon. Saturday guests at the home of Mrs.Cecil Haun were Mrs. Don Nelson of Tillamook and Mrs. Lester Hatha way of Mill City. Louise, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Haun, was taken to Portland for a medical check-up Tues day of this week. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Carey and son, Jon, of Stayton spent the week end at the home of Mrs. Carey’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wilson. Mrs. Carey apd son returned to her parents home Tuesday evening to re main for the rest of the week while Carey attended teacheri institute. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Garrison are announcing the opening of their new cafe, April 5. They have leased the cafe to Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bonity. The Garrisons will only operate the Va riety store. The cafe will be in a new addition to the building and has been tastefully decorated and fur nished with all modern equipment. The new management will serve meals as well as fountain service. Among Gates folk to attend the St. Patrick card party in Mill City Satur day evening were Mr. and Mrs. John LaHaie, Mr. and Mrs. Fount Paul, Mrs. Don Gessner, Mrs. Robert Boaz and Mrs. Albert Millsap.
