December 2», 1950 4—THE MILL CITY ENTERPRISE Cagers Display Unusual Talents Walt Disney’s CINDERELLA The Basketball Jamboree at Gates Wednesday evening brought out some surprising talent. The first game of the evening saw the CBI Engineers avenge a pre season loss by whipping Detroit 35-24. The Detroiters were hampered by the small floor aftej having become more familiar with their college-size court at home. in COtO* by tecHNicoio» The Gates five surprised no one by downing the inexperienced Mill City Rockets, but they did so by scor ing 55 points, to the Rockets’ 31. 55 points in only 30 minutes of basket ball on such a small floor is quite a feat. Those boys, led by Don Carey, are the smoothest, best shooting out fit to show themselves during the evening. A better basketball team will be hard to find in the North Santiam V’alley league. The scrappiest, and most thrilling game of the evening was furnished by Aumsville and Sublimity. These two teams, made up of young, ag gressive, ball players, were almost evenly matched. However, Sublimity manager to nose out Aumsville by a 36-34 margin. League play begins in earnest on Monday, January 8, with a seventh team, Scio, added.
