Gates
Better Vision Means Happier leisure
The social meeting of the Gates
Womans Club was held in the recre­
ation rooms of the high school Thurs­
day afternoon.
A no-host luncheon
at 1:30 was followed by a short bus-
iness session with Mrs. Elmer Stew-
art presiding. Plans for the fall baz-
aar were discussed; it was decided
to give a turkey dinner at 6:30 the
evening of Oct. 12 at the schoolhouse;
a charge of $1.255 per plate will be
made for adults; children 50 cents,
Proceeds from the dinner will be
added to the building fund.
Mrs. Velma Carey, Mrs. T. R. Bur-
ton Mrs. Harold Wilson and Mrs.
Frank Saunders were appointed a
committee to arrange the affair. The
next regular meeting will be held
Oct. 13, with the officers of the club
acting as hostesses.
Those in attendance were Mrs.
Elmer Stewart, Mrs. Frank Saunders,
Mrs. Harold Wilson, Mrs. Melbourne
Rambo, Mrs. Theodore Burton, Mrs.
Velma Carey, Mrs. Elmer K 1 u t k e,
Mrs. Laura Joaquin, Mrs. Lairy Shel­

A reception for the teachers of the
Gates schools was given last Friday
evening in the social rooms of the
high school with a large attendance
of parents and friends. The affair
was sponsored by the Gates Womans
club. After a short address of wel­
come by the president of the club,
Mrs. Stewart, and introduction of the
teachers by the superintendent of
schools, T. R. Burton, the evening
was spent informally. Refreshments
were served at the close of the eve­
ning.

week for Oregon State College in
Corvallis. Don Carey, son of Mrs. Vel­
ma Carey, will enter his senior year;

Edmund Davis, will register for his
second year; Bob and Bill Oliver, sons
of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Oliver, also

the occasion of her fourth birthday
at the home of her grandparents, Mr.

day, Sept. 22. Following an afternoon
of fun a family dinner was served by
the hostess to carol and her three
brothers, her mother, Mrs. Schaer,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Levon, Royal
