MILL CITY ENTERPRISE. AUGUST 18, 194» Gates The Gates Woman’s Club met at the home of Mrs. Elmer K 1 u t k-e Thursday afternoon of last week. A no-host luncheon was setved at 1:30. Following the luncheon hour the bus iness session was held with Mrs. El mer Stewart presiding. Mrs. Klutke, chairman of the building committee, reported that $30 had been collected by public subscription to.be added to the fund. Dave Reid, Jerry’s Tav ern and the Maples Cafe gave to the fund. Mrs. Bob Lewis, a new mem ber, solicited the money. Promises of volunteer labor when work starts on the clubhouse were made by Paul Davis, Elmer Stewart', Wilson Park, Bob Jackson, Fred But ler, Harold Heath, Bill Hutcheson, and others. Elmer Klutke, Clare Hen- ness and Bill Hirte have donated la bor and use of a truck to haul lum ber for the hall. Tex Allen has fur nished blueprints for the building and Dick Parker of the Gates Furniture store has donated articles to be sold to add to the fun for a fireplace. Women of the club wish to take this means to express their gratitude to these men and to all the others who may in the future help in the erection of the building which will be used as a community house, not only for the club but for young peo ple and organizations which need a place to meet. Next regular meeting of the club will be at the home of Mrs. Harold Wilson Thursday afternoon, Sept. 8. New members are being sought, and a cordial invitation is extended to all new women residing in Gates to at tend. Mis. Riley Champ was hostess at her home Wednesday afternoon last week to members of the Birthday Club and guests. A luncheon was served by the hostess, followed by an afternoon of cards. Mrs. Edmund Davis held high score, Mrs. Walter Brisbin second, Mrs. Martha Bowes received consol ation prize. Guest prize was awarded Mrs. Gwen Schaer.
