As an oversight last week we fail ed to mention the fact that Santa Claus was a very busy feilow Christ mas night in the Lyons comimunity. When trace we fund that Merrill Braasfield of Lyons Food Market is the one to thank. He visited all the homes with little folks, leaving gifts. Lyons hasn’t been missed when it comes to the cold weather. The grount is still blanketed with snow and we have had our share of icy streets and roads and low t'^rmo- meter readings. But with the aid of chains the school busses were able to make all routes Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hampton re turned to Pendleton the last of the week after spending the holidays at the home of her parents, the Alex Bodekers. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Lewis spent several days at the home of his bro ther and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ever ett Lewis on the coast at Bandon. Mr. ami Mrs. Paul Cookingham of Portland visited Saturday at the home of his mother, Mrs. Sarah Cookinlgham. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Kinzer spent the New Year’s holiday at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Fred Jung- wiith in Coquille. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bassett of Cor vallis spent the week end with re latives in Lyons and Mill City. Miss Lucille Lewis returned to Philomath Sunday to resume her stu dies as a teacher in the school there. Miss Helen Queen of Macy, Nebr., who has spent the past three months at the home of her sister and brother- in-law- Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Brass field, left for Fresno, Calif., where she will visit other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnston, Car rol, Shirley and George were New Year’s guests at the home of her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Klemiple in Salem. They were accompanied by his mother, Mrs. Daisy Johnston, who visited with her sister, Mrs. Bertha Woodworth. Due to the snow and icy roa'ds, no church services were held at the Lyons Methodist Church Sunday. A small ciowd attended Sunday school. Mrs. Ben Hadley and infant son of Portland are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Clipfell. Charles Power went to Glendale, Cal f., where he will visit at the home of his brother and family. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Burmister were dinner miests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Eklund in I^banon. Mr. Eklund is employed at the Cascade Plywood Co. in Lebanon and they recently bought a new home.
