WER SHORTAGE HERE!
A year ago if became opparent that
a possible power shortage faced the en
tire Pacific Northwest. By caliing on all
reserves and taxing all facilities to the
limit, the critical period of a year oqo
was passed.
Today there are no more nddA’oncl
kilowatts to coll upon. Every plant is oo-
erating at capacity . . . every facility is
strained to the breaking point. The crit
ical period is from one hour before 12:00
noon and from 4:30 to 6:30 o. m. As the
days grow shorter, the problem increases.
No area—no home nor business nor in
dustry—in the entire Pacific Northwest
is immune to the shortage. The entire
area has experienced a phenomenal
growth in new homes, new industries ond
exDanded business. The electric industry,
along with every business, industry and
individual citizen, wants this healthy ec
onomic condition to be maintained. Its
continuance means steady jobs and more
prosperity for all. To assure continuance,
all of us must work together to conserve
electricity, and make every kilowatt
count! Working together the problem
con be solved.
