Arrangementsofa special nature are being made for a union watch-night meeting to be held on the last night of the year and the century, which will oc cur oil-Monday, December 31st. The ministerial association has not quite completed arrangements for the pro gram, but expect to do so at its meeting next Monday afternoon. Considerable interest has been manifested in the meet ing, and the following have promised to speak on certain subjects of an interest ing nature connected with the century just ending ILL. Boardman, W. W. Bristow, H. S. Maloney, Judge Magers, J. G. Eckman and Dr. J. C, Michaux. In addition to these, the members of the ministerial association will also take part, and there will lie special music by the choirs. It will be a union meeting aud the members of all the churches are cordially invited to attend. It is expect ed that particulars concerning the pro gram will be arranged by the ministers at their meeting next Monday, so that the subjects, etc., can be published next week. The s ervice will be held at the Methodist church and will begin at 8 o’clock. Their Choir Made Happy. At tile reception given to the choir by the members and friends of the C. P. church Thursday evening of last week many expressions of gratitude and ap preciation were given for the faithful la bor of love on behalf of those who fur nish the music. Members of the choir responded, assuring tile pastor and mem bers of the church that theirs was the greater pleasure, in being able to per form their duty even in their humble way. The Hobbs-Patty quartet gave a selection, and Miss Edith Hamblin played a violin solo during the evening, and after the welcomes had all been said the doors of the lecture room were thrown open, displaying an elegant lunch spread beneath graceful festoons of ivy and floral wreaths. Nchooner Wrecked al Wood«. The lumber schooner Pioneer was wrecked at llaystock Rock near Woods Sunday afternoon. The heavy swells during the late storm twisted oil' her rudder, and a jury-rudder was constructed which served for a time, but finally be came useless. Luckily the action of the breakers turned her head directly toward the shore, and she was lifted in by each succeeding wave. Three men were ob served on the beach, and two left, run ning inland, which the crew understood to mean that they were going for assist ance, which was by continued the arrival on the beach of a number of people just as the darkness closed in. The ship wrecked crew was greatly cheered through the long hours of the night by an immense bonfire which was kept go ing on the beach. Constant efforts were made by the people of Woods to get a line tn the vessel, mid this was accomplished after Lard work all night about 5 a. ni., when the crew were all safely taken ashore, Captain Mick kelson leaving his vessel last. The Pioneer is a three- masted schooner owned by the Simpson Lumber Company of San Francisco. Her cargo consisted of almost 530,000 feet of dressed lumber. Willi the exception of t ie deckload the lumber is intact and can be saved. The vessel is a total loss. She had a crew of nine men.
