T he report of the weather bureau gives the precipitation for 1S99, in the state of Oregon, as follows: The average precipitation for the year throughout the state was 49.73 inches. This is about 15.5 inches above the mean annual rainfall of the state, showing the vear 1899 to have been a very rainy year. In the coast district that is, between the coast range of mountains and the ocean—the average rainfall was) 102.04 inches for the year; in the. Tho greatest amount of precipitation at any station during the year was 162.48 inches, or about 13 5 feet., at Glenora, Tillamook county. The least amount during the year at any station was 8.08-inches, at Prineville, Crook county. The greatest amount in any one month was 35.81 inches, at Glenora, in November; the least amount was none, at several stations in the plateau district, during the month of July. The total snowfall during the year was, west of the Cascades, from about 4 inches on ibe coast to 477 inches at Government camp, on the slope of Mount Hood, aud, east of the Cascades, from 1 inch to 173 inches. It averaged about 8 inches in the coast district, 1.» inches in the Willamette valley, 7 inches in south ern Oregon, 33 inches in the Colum bia river valley, and 50 inches in the plateau district. The snowfall at Government camp was greater than any time in recent years, except in 1896, when 483 inches fell. In 1897 there were 290 inches, and in 1898, 381 inches. Precipitation occurred on an aver age of 82 days in the plateau dis trict, 101 in the Columbia river val ley, 129 in southern Oregon, 175 in the Willamette valley, and 192 in the coast district.
