Johnson was born in McMinnville when his father was presi dent of the college here. This fact, coupled with the fact that he is a bright man. will attract special attention to the educational sermon. Certain fortune seems to await our young friend, O. J. Hobson, who recent ly left here for Lewieton, Idaho. He has invented a device for separating gold from sand by means of water, and callsit the "Hobson placer concentrat or." The I.ewiston papers describe the device in detail, and speak of it as an invention which has solved that which seemed as impossible as perpetual motion. They say the very crudest ex periment will show the practicability of this idea, and when the patent papers are returned “placer mills” will be a common term. We sincerely hope for Mr Hobson that it will prove to be all that is anticipated for it. G. 8. Wright, dentist. Chas. Eaihart is engaged in barbering at Dallas.
