The receipts of the three principle companies, the Equitable, Mutual and New York Life, amount to three million dollars a week. All this money^must be ^invested some where. Gus Maurer has entered the employ of Reynolds & Bond of the D street market. Mr. Bond is filling the place of outside man. Dayton expects to have a new bank established by the first of next year. Jesse Edwards of Newberg is at the head of the movement, and "Dayton parties are said to be taking stock. Ed. Kolb, Jack Hoover and Herman Thompson left on Monday for southern Oregon, to engage in mining in the vicin ity where B. F. Hartman and Frank Wisecarver are similarly interested. Wm. J. Dodson returned home Satur day night after an absence of about two years in Montana, “running at large,” as he expresses it. He is looking well and will probably remain here until spring before returning. The local institute of Yamhill county will hold its next session at North Yam hill, Saturday, Nov. 2tith. A good pro gram has been arranged and all teach ers and friends of education are most cor dially invited to be present. A lecture will lie given on Friday evening, Nov. 25th, by President H. L.
