Nays the Astorian of Thursday:
Yesterday was the coldest day of the
season. The wind blew in keen, icy
puffs from the northeast. 'I'he warm
est clothing was brought out. skates
were oiled preparatory to u visit to
Clatsop, and buckwheat cakes and
honey were in prime favor.
The Tacoma Ledger’s Lakeview
correspondent says : Our postmaster
wrote to Portland recently, a-kiriry
to have a townsite laid off at the de

would consider the matter, but our
people fail to see a towusite, for the

CITY MARKET,
TOLD IN TWO LETTERS.
FROM THE SON:“^^;^
" Grntlemcn: My father resides at Glover,
Vt. He has been a great sufferer from Scrof
ula, and the inclosed letter will tell you what
a marvelous effect
s
has had in his case. 1 think his blood must
liavo contained the humor for at least ten
years; but it did not show, except in the form
of a scrofulous sore on the wrist, until about
live years ago. From a few spots which a|e
peared at that time, it gradually spread so as
to cover his entire body. 1 assure you he was
terribly afflicted, and an olject of pity, when
he began using your medicine. Now, there are
few men of his age who enjoy as good heal th
as lie has. 1 could easily name fifty persvua
who would testify to the facts in bis case.
Yours truly,
W. M. P hillips .”
FROM THE FATHER:
a duty for mo to state to you tlio benefit 1
have derived from tho use of
Ayer’s Sarsaparilla.
Six months ago I was completely covered with
a terrible humor and scrofulous sores. Tlio
humor caused an incessant and intolerable
itching, and the skin cracked so as to cause
the blood to flow in many places whenever
1 moveil. My sufferings were great, and my
life a burden. I commenced the use of the
S arsaparilla in April last, and have used
it regularly since that time. My condition
began to improve at once. The sores have
all healed, and I feel perfectly well in every
respect — being row able to do a good day’»
work, although 73 years of ago. Many inquire
what has wrought such a cure iD my case, and
I tell them, as I have here tried to tell you,
A yer ’ s S arsaparilla . Glover, Vt., Oct»
21, 1882.
Yours gratefully,
H iram P hillips .”
AV er ’ s S arsaparilla cures Scrofula
and all Scrofulous Complaints, Erysip
elas, Eczema, Ringworm, Blotches,
Sores, ¡lolls, Tumors, and Eruptions of
the Skin. It clears the blood of all impu

the bowels, and thus restores vitality and.
