Drom this college he graduated just in

POSTOFFICE HOl’KS.
Friday night a hundred or so of the
voters of this city assembled in the
Opera house and nominated a city tick
et. It was as follows:
Mayor, Geo. W. Jones; Councilmen,
John Evenden, Chas. Palmer, H.Rum
mel, G. L. Baker, J. C. Gates, H. L.
Heath; Recorder, J. J. Spencer; Mar
shal, C. II. Neal,
The election was held Monday and
resulted in the election of the entire
ticket. Only 176 votes were cast. G.
W. Jones received 145, John Evenden
16-5, G. L. Baker 169, H. Rummel 169,
Chas. Palmer 164, J. C. Gates 163, H.L.
Heath 85, J. J. Spencer 166, C. H. Neal
164. A determined fight was made on
H. L. Heath, but he pulled through
with a majority of 6 votes, John Gault
being the candidate for the opposition.
The labors of the council during the
comiug year will not be a picnic by any
means, if they attempt to get the city
out of the mud, which is slowly but
surely engulfing her.
