people were theie developed, who grew
in art and civilization until they become
greater than any in Egypt or Greece,
and were ruled by kings in peace and
purity of character, which caused them
to live so long. In the centre of this
country was the Garden of Eden, and
that Atlantis was connected by a narrow
strip of land with Europe, Africa and
America, so that the inhabitants went to
all of those countries before Atlantis be
come submerged. Mr. Donnely speaks
of ships plying to and from all of those
countries, whether this is a myth or not,
we know not, but still we say we are as
near to it as any place on this earth.
This part of the world is not only
healthy, but very prolific in fruits and
cereals; the climate is mild, and neither
cold nor hot; no cyclones or thunder
storms. We have good water and no
failure in crops, which are abundant
every year. Taking all things into ac
count is the reason why this is the most
healthful country in the world. People
nowadays require proof of everything.
I will give another list of old people up
here: E. C. Williams, 70; Joseph Watt,
72; John AValling, 75; Mary Walling,
71; O. II. Sheldon, 62; Reuben Gant,
68; E J. Wright, 69; Mrs. M. A. Jol.n-
son 75; Jesse Morris, 71; Mis. Rachael
Davidson, 68; Mrs. C. Buffum, 73; Win.
O’Connor, 70; G. W. Goucher, 68. Now,
Mr. Editor, this is only part of the old
people of this section. There are a mul
titude of boys and girls ranging from 50
to GO, but we are not. talking of our
children now. We do not like to be
called old people since we have got so
near to the Fountain of Youth. If it
was not for taking advantage of and
beating a boy running a foot race, I
would challenge our worthy recorder,
Capt. Wyatt Harris, but I feel some
what delicate about running against a
boy. I will have to close this letter for
fear that its length might rob your paper
of better articles.
