account of the trials and rough experi
ence of the lost sealers, that our corres
pondent from Tillamook mentioned in
our last issue. E. T. flumes and five

Victoria. They are sealers from the
schooner Lilly L., the captain of which
says they deserted him off Cape Foul
weather. May 11. Humes and his com
rades tell a very different story. They
say they left the vessel under orders
that morning in two boats to cruise south
by east, and night coming on, no sign
of the vessel which should have picked
them up and they treing short of provis

thing to eat. They beached the boats
at the mouth of Salmon river 25 miles
