Mrs. Newby was one of the pioneer women ot Oregon. She was born in Kentucky in 1824 and came to Oregon in J843 with her husband, Hon. W. T. Newby, W|io died in this city about two years ago. She was loved and respected by a large circle of rela tives and friends. She leaves an onlv sister, Mrs. Jovejov, of Oregon City, five daughters and one son, all of whom are married and settled near here., except one,'the youngest daughter.
