rhe following crop review appears
in this week’s issue of the Farmer’s
Review: The corn crop is maturing
rapidly, and reports from correspondents
this week indicate, approximately, prob
ably twenty-five per acre in bushels.
Frosts occured in Illinois, Wisconsin
Iowa and Nebraska dining the week,
and some injury is icported to late grain
in the lowlands, but in the main no
general injury occurred, owing to ma
turity of giain. In twenty-one counties
in Illinois the average ranges from ten
to forty bushels, with an apparent aver
age of about twenty-five bushels to the
acre. The same general average is in
dicated in Iowa, The average in Minn
esota in fourteen counties is placed at
twenty bushels.
In Indiana, twelve
counties icport a general average of
twenty-nine bushels. In Kansas reports
from twelve counties report an average
of twenly-two bushels. In Ohio the av-
erge of counties reporting is thirty-two
bushels.
In Wisconsin the average i«
twenty-six bushels.
In Missouri the
general average is placed at twenty-four
bushels. Reports from Nebraska indi
cate an immensly large yield. In some
districts, in Cedar, Merrimac, I’latte
and Hitchcock counties reports indicate
that tho yield will range from forty to
sixty bushels. Reports from Michigan
indicate a yield ranging from twenty to
seventy-five bushels per acre. While
none of the returns are sufficiently com
plete to estimate accuiatelv, the general
average of probable yield data is com
plete enough to indicate approximately
a probable general average.
