McKinnon III
Malcolm McKinnon was rushed to
a hospital in Portland Thursday night
by ambulance. He has been serious­
ly ill with pneumonia and suddenly
grew worse. He isn’t out of danger
yet, however, but we do hope he will
soon be up and “ fit as a fiddle”
again.
Fntertains Girls
Mrs. Ralph Williams entertained
the older group of Camp Fire girls
Friday night with a lovely camp fir«
weiner roast at Eagle creek. Oldei
guests were Mrs. Lester Sprague
Mrs. James Raaamussen, Mrs. Jerrj
Woodward and Mrs. Roy Weeman
Mrs. Martin Whalen was shopping
in Portland Tuesday.
Graduate* Feted
Tuesday evening Mrs. W. J. Carl­
son, Mrs. Lester Sprague and Mrs
M. L. Morgan entertuined the eighth
grade graduation class of 1937 at a
6:30 dinner at the home of Mrs. Carl
son. Mr. and Mrs. Embree were
also guests. After a perfectly grand
dinner the children enjoyed games.
Good Catches
Joe Miller and Art Nix are really
proud of themselves tor they got the
second best catch of fish in the Des­
chutes river Sunday (so the game
warden says). Anyhow they took pic-

friends while in the Locks on busi-
ness.
Mr. and Mrs. McDownley of Ste­
venson were Sunday visitors of Man-
da Collins.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Provost left for
New Mexico Saturday evening where
Bert will work on the Conchas dam.
The Oddfellows are taking in 12
candidates to Portland Wednesday
evening foi the third degree.
Bob Miller of Portland spent the
week-end with his brother and wife,
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller. While here
he visited his many friends and at­
tended the Senior ball.
Mr and Mrs. West of North Bon­
neville were Sunday guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Carl Reuterskoild.
Wednesday Mrs. H. J. Titus, Mrs.
M. ' Morgan and Mrs. Lester Spra­
gue motored to Portland to attend
the Rebekah convention.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Cordill and
Mrs. S. A. Cordill of Mollala were
week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Lester Sprague and family. Mrs. S.
A. Cordill is a sister of Mr. Sprague.
Mr. and Mrs. Hank Rosenback and
Carlyle P.euterskoild hiked to four-
mile camp and enjoyed fishing and
camping out over the week-end.
Miss Theodora Gustafson and her
mother, Mrs. Mary Gustafson, re­
turned Sunday afternoon from Port­
land. The trip home weakened Miss
Gustafson so she is confined to her
bed.
Mrs. George Bogardus was taken
seriously ill Saturday night and was
rushed to the Multnomah hospital in
Portland. At the last reports she
was holding her own.
Clem Kollenburn and Cliff Wood­
ward left Tuesday for Deep River,
Wash., where Clem’s parents are.
Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Wuner and two
sons of Oswego were week-end visi­
tors of tyr. and Mrs. R. J. Wuner.
Mrs. William Ferguson and sister,
Mrs. William Mohr, were shopping in
Portland Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Roxy Hill and two
sons Jack and Keith of Warrendale
spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and
Mrs. H. J. Titus.
Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard of Bonne­
ville visited friends in the Locks on
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Stevens spent
the week-end in Waldport.
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Grinnell and
Zulima Munkres who have been vis­
iting the Hank Munkres, left Tues­
day morning for Bend.
We are glad to see that Mr. and
Mrs. Nate Davies have moved back
to the Locks after living in The
Dalles for a few months.
Everill Brolliar was up from New-
berg and spent the week-end with his
parents.
Mrs. R. J. Belshaw and daughter
Marcia Rae left Monday for Vallejo,
Calif., to visit her mother for about
two weeks.
The telephone crew who are work­
ing in town are staying at the Lake
side hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Epping were
among the many fish'ng in the Des­
chutes river Sunday.
Hank Kruse spent the week-end
in Goldendale.
Curt Potts from Hood River of
the Loop service station was in the
Locks on business Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Franz Reuterskoild
were shopping in Hood River Tues­
day.
Mr. an Mrs. V. C. Nelson are
spending a much enjoyed week at the
coast.
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Rand return­
ed from the Conchas dam Thursday.
They all seem to return from this
Conchas dam. We wonder what is
wrong down there.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Steel and Elaine
and Bille of Portland were Sunday
guests of L. E. Ostberg.
Miss Beth Manchester spent a very
enjoyable week-end visiting in Port­
land.
Mrs. Karl Rosenback returned home
Friday after a two week's stay in
the Hood River hospital. We're glad
that she’s getting along so nicely
and do hope she will soon be up and
around again.
Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Brannon spent
the week-end in Portland with Mrs.
Brannon's parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.
F. Fee.
Mrs. Johnny Butler and son and
Miss Lucy Putler from Skamania.
Wash., spent the day with Mrs. Ar­
thur Nix Friday.
Margaret Calendine, postmaster of
Cascade Locks, is planning on at­
tending the Multnomah-Hood River
county postmaster association to be

Last Friday was little Shirley Mat­
ron’s ninth birthday anniversary so
Mrs. Albert Matson planned a party
for Saturday afternoon at her home.

and dainty refreshments and all that
goes to make a merry party.
Mrs. Albert Matson and daughter
