PUBLIC SCHOOL
AT BONNEVILLE
HAS 84 PUPILS
Hope Is E xp ressed T h at New
Building, Including Ad
dition, W ill Be Ready
by O ctober 1 5 ,
Despite limited quarters, the
public school in the Bonneville dis
trict opened Monday with an en
rollment of 84 pupils. The ma
jority of the children are housed
tem(a>rarily in the Community
Center building, but there are 30
in the old school, just west of the
Atkinson camp.
Lieut. (J. S. (¿orlinski has ex
pressed the hojie that the new
schiKil building will lie ready for
occu(iancy October IS. However,
the date is not definite and it may
la- November 1 before the pupils
can be transferred out of the pres
ent quarters.
Work has already been started
on an addition to the new building.
It will be ready for use by the
time thr main structure is turned
over to the school district.
The federal government, work
ing through SERA, will erect a
second building in the rear of the
school for use as a gymnasium and
auditorium.
I^rst year when the Bonneville
school opened there were only six
pupils, and the enrollment did not
increase until after Christmas. A
recent census has uncovered 102
children of school age, and indica
tions are that the enrollment will
continue to mount throughout the
fall and winter.
Principal C. A. Robertson is
teaching the fifth, seventh and
eighth grades in the old school
building. Miss Stevens has third,
fourth and sixth grades, and Miss
Huy la Calasheff has the first and
second grades.
