THE NORMAL SCHOOL
After all of the facts are known, It
appears that Hood River still has a
chance of being selected as a location
for the Eastern Oregon Normal school,
and, in hopes of having the school lo
cated here, the city council has decided
to donate to the state, a site of 20 acres
adjacent to the city auto park.-
From the standpoints of climatic con
ditions, health conditions, congenial
surroundings, and servh-e to the state,
there I* no locality in eastern Oregon
that can offer so much as can Hood
River. Being close to the center of
Itopulation, a normal school In Hood
River would draw its students from
Multnomah county as well a* from
eastern Oregon, thereby assisting ma
terially in relieving the congested con
ditions that now exist at Monmouth.
To accomplish this, end Is one of the
principal objectives of the n*w school.
Your Chamber of Commerce director
ate and your dty council are bending
every effort to secure favorable action
on the part of the board of regents,
and, as a business man you may Is*
able to assist in bringing about the
selection of Hood IUver as a site for
the school. If you have any acquaint
ances on the ls»ard of regents, or any
influence with the “powers that be"
this is a good time to use it. The loca-
tlon of a large state institution will be
a great boon to Ilood River, and Is
something well worth working for.
