Miss Jeanice Turner, talented dra
matic aoprano, will lie presented in
concert December 1 for the benefit of
the Hood River hospital. The concert
ia being given at the high school under
the auspices of the Boy Scouts, who
will turn all profit« over to the Hood
River hospital for the purchase of the
new steriliser recently Installed.
MI hc Turner made her debut in Italy
where she sang with great success,
winning notable mention from music
critics there. “Lo Bteflile” (Ban Remo,
Italy) comments: “in 'Amico Frits' a
young American soprano, Mt— Jeanice
Turner, captivated Ban Remo. It ia
not often an American singer so young
sings with such feeling and tines—.''
11 Teatro, Milan, says: "Miss Jeanies
Turner, a young American soprano,
sang Mimi with a beautiful'voice. She
was well received. Hhe has a voice of
great range which she uses remarkably
well.” The Portland Oregonian, com
ments: ‘‘Miss Turner, who made l»er
debut in opera in Italy last year, sang
‘L'entrata Della Butterfly' (Pucinnl)
with splendid style and finish. The
dramatic quality In her voice showed
to advantage tn two modern Italian
numbers. The group of English songs
were late compositions by the well-
known composer, Louis Victor Baar."
Other critics give Miss Turner equal
ly cordial praise. The Bellingham
American, on the occasion of Miss Tur
ner’s return to her home, said: "A
brilliant and enthusiastic audience
greeted Jeanice Turner, Hie beautiful
and talented young dramatic soprano"

success at a number of concerts
throughout the 1'nited Htates. She is

Miss Hara Howes, a Hood River girl
formerly organist at Riverside church,
will be at the piano. Miss Howvs has
been meeting with much success as an
accompanist while in Portland. She
lias already played two concerts for
Miss Turner.
