Growers Association, which received
from its growers 2,018.261 boxes o'f
apples, a third more than any former
season, has the bulk of the remaining
Ktocka, the fruit in its wild storage
plants reaching 06,282 boxes.

high class Newtown«, which are ex
pected to bring the top returns on the
lata market.

COMING SAYS BUTLER
Truman Butler, who returned ’Frl-
day from a vacation spent in south-
ern California, said he found the
residents of all sections eagerly look-
lng forward to the coming of sum-
mertliue when they will take the road
and motor to Oregon for their vaca-
tlon days.
“At least a half of the people with
whom I talked,' 99 said Mr. Butler,
“are , going to spend a part of the
«Ummer in Oregon. I predict that
we wUI have more California visitors
by far than in any former year. I
find that Californians know nearly as
much about tile Columbia River
Highway as do Oregonians. They
have Also heard about our Mount
Ilood Loop Highway. Many of those
wlA> have already motored to Oregon
are coming again to make the Loop
trip thi* year. The other* plan on
including It in their Itinerary.
“I find that our Hood River valley
is a magnet to many. It baa been
advertised by our apples and the
highways. I think you will And the
Mount Hood forest thickly dotted
with the camps of California outing
parties by early July.
"This lure of Oregon to the Cali
fornians seems to be kind of cumu
lative. Every crop of motor tourists
that we have from there sends a
doubly large new crop the next year.
Tbe Californians are certainly sold
on Oregon as a place to spend the
summer days.”
Mr. Butler visited various Califor
nia points and stopped a while in
San Jose to visit the family of W. B.
Dickerson, engaged there in the spray
business. He declares that San Jow
ls one of the solidest cities of Cali
fornia. butlded on tbe great fruit and
diversified agricultural interests of
the Santa Clara valley. Mr. Butler
visited with his daughter, Miss
Marlon Butler, who is a student at
Mills College.
Mosier School to Hold Dance
The Mosier school will give a
dance at the big auditorium next Sat
urday evening. The proceeds will be
