Week and the city government heart­
ily endorses the stfaie; therefore, in
order to further keep down the Are

of our city, I hereby proclaim the
week of April 21 to 26 General Clean
Vp Week and urge all cltissns to
thoroughly clean up thair premises,
inside and out, and dispose of all the
trash.

propagated by a Mr. Clark, a neighbor
„of Mr. Coon’S In the Mt. Tabor district.
Mr. Coon selected some of the plants
■nd made the original shipment of
the fruit from thia section. His dln-
covery led to the local strawberry In­
dustry. which preceded by acme year*
that of apple raising hero. Both Mr.
■nd Mrs. Coon ere activo members of
the Hood River PtaDesr nodtety. Mr.
Coon la ex-preeldent of the organisa­ .
tion, and Mrs. Coon wee for a number
of years ths society's historian.
Of the eight children born to Mr.
■nd Mrs. Coon five are living and four
were present at the jubilee reunion.
A daughter, Mrs. H. W. Woods, of
Montana, was unable to attend but
■ent greetings.
The rooms of the Fens home were
beautifully decorated with Oregon
grape, mingled with white and golden
spring flowers. A number of hand­
some and appropriate gifts wire re­
ceived. A bouuüful and delicious re-
past was nerved and many ha|>py mem­
ories recalled.
