Efforts are being made by the Boy
Scouts to establish communication
with Hood River Scouts by means of
heliograph, wig-wag flags and two-arm
semaphore flags.
Geo. L. Pyatt, of the Mt. Brook dis
trict, has 99 acres of alfalfa that
stands nearly three fedt high. Ruff
Byrket, who saw the stand last week,
has been wondering, why more farmers
here do not grow alfalfa, and stop
sending away their money every year.
He has not figured how much money
leaves this district for tbe purchase
of hay, but It Is safe to say that it is
a large sum at present prices.
