Judge Blowers will leave today for
Salem to secure an apartment and to
prepare for the coming session of the
legislature. Judge Blowers, who
made the trip by automobile, was ac-
ompanicd by Mrs. Blowers and their
daughter, Miss Alice. The latter will
attend school while in Salem.
Rev. and Mrs. II. C. Clark have left
for Orland, Calif., to spend several
months. They have rented their home
to Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Jackson. Mrs.
Jackson and daughter arrived re
cently to be here with Mr. Jackson,
who is with the Hood River Canning
Co. Miss Jackson will return to the
East today to resume school duties.
Ray Emry, who for the past several
ears has been employed with a large
power concern at cascauia, rresno
unity, California, Is here spending
the Christmas vacation with his par-
nts, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Emry. Mr.
Emry had not licen home since liefore
the great war. lie served In the avia
tion corps.
Harry Hettinger, Tarkdale young
man, sustained painful wounds last
week when interferrlng in a fight be
tween his Collie dog and an Airedale
from a neighboring ranch. He sus
tained a deep gash in a leg and one of
his hands was laid open. He hastened
to Hood River to have- his wounds
dressed and cauterized.
Mr. and Mrs. George W. Stafford
celebrated their golden wedding at
their home in Vancouver, Wash., last
Sunday. The couple were married at
Silencer, Iowa, Del-ember 24, 1872. At
one time they resided in Hood River,
and Mr. Stafford was a member of
Can by Post, O. A. R. He served dur
ing the Civil war In the Twenty-first
Wisconsin regiment. Mr. and Mrs,
James Stranahan of Hood River at
tended the golden wedding, Mrs,
Stranahan being a daughter of the
aged couple.

Eagle Creek Bridge to be Built
The United States Forestry crew,
driven out of the Lost Lake district
ten days ago by the heavy snowstorm,
will be transferred following the
Christmas holidays to Eagle creek,
where a bridge will be constm-ted,
connecting trails along the noted
waterway. The forestry service, ac
cording to W. A. Langille, in charge
of construction work, will resume
work on the Lost Lake highway as
soon as weather conditions will per
mit next spring.

The rain and melting snow for the
most part penetrated tne earth. Le-
roy Chlids, superintendent of the
Hood Itlver Experiment Station, says
he never saw a smaller run off for
such a heavy precipitation. The con
dition, however, he declares, is good
for the apple tracts of the valley.

Kay W. Sinclair was re-elected
master of the Hood Hiver Masonic
Lodge Wednesday night of last week

Duncan Sustains Broken Hark
It. A.- Duncan, who formerly resided
here, while attempting to board a
moving train at The Dalles last week,
fell and sustained a broken back. His
condition was at first thought seri
ous. He is showing improvement,
