The Circle - Overland Co.. which
handles the Overland and Willys-

concrete block annex at its garage on
Cascade avenue. The new structure,

Mrs. J. K. Doan, of Cleveland, 0.,
arrived last Thursday for an extended

Mr. and Mrs. Leon Stoner have ar
rived from Long Beach, Calif., for a
visit with the parents of Mrs. Stoner,

John Sheridan, Portland appe buyer,
here yesterday visiting growers, re
ports that he has never seen the mar
ket so crowded at this season with ear
ly varieties. Mr. Sheridan stated that
the values of high class, late keeping
fruit was being kept at a low ebb be
cause or tne consignment oi eariy va
rieties. He declared that many Grav
ensteins, a variety that is usually off
the market by the middle of October,
are being consigned.
Judge and Mrs. G. R. Castner have
returned from Michigan, where they
visited some time, following the na
tional Grand Army Encampment.

to attend an affair to be given by the

Mosier, occurred Sunday afternoon at
the home of the bride's mother, Mrs
May Roberts, Rev. W. H. Boddy, pas
tor of Riverside Communtiy church
officiating. Only members of the im
mediate families and close friends
were present. M'ss Katharine Kinsey
was bride'smaid, and Mrs. Corbett
Alexander was matron of honor. Mr,
Scearce was accompanied by his
brother, Robert J. Scearce, and the
brother of the bride, Steven Roberts
Mr. Scearce, former University of Ore
con student, is an overseas war vet
eran.
The Roberts home was beautifully
decorated with pink chrysanthemums,
Following the ceremony Mr. and Mrs.
Scearce left on a short honeymoon.
They will make their home on an orch
ard place near Mosier.

The wedding of Martin Perry and
Miss Freda Tomlinson, local young
folk, occurred Monday, Justice of the

Speed and Liquor Bring Fines
Edgar J. Tonkin was fined $10 Mon
day hy Justice of the Peace Onthank
on a charge of speeding on the Colum
bia River Highway. James Thayer,
who accompanied Tonkin by automo
bile from Cascade Locks Saturday
ight, was assessed a fine of $50 on ac
count of possessing liquor. He was
committed to jail until payment of the
fine.
The liquor was found in the automo
bile on arrival of the men in the city,
the office of Sheriff Johnson having
been notified by traffic officers. Thay
er, owner of the automobile, however,
lleged that it had been left in the ma
chine by another member of the party.
The men claimed that they visited the
Highway city for a social function and
that they purchased a second bottle of
liquor, 'which had been consumed on
the way home.

Another College Engagement
The engagement of Miss Eugenia E
Page, of Hond River, and Neil Lewis
Morfit. of Portland, was announced
Friday evening at dinner at the Alpha
Phi sorority at the University of Ore
gon at bugene.
A bouquet of roses in the center of
the table concealed the tiny envelopes
which told the news of the betrothal
Miss Page is a sophomore at the uni
versity and is a member of the Alpha
Phi aorority. Mr. Moifit is a graduate
of the university in the class of 1922
and is a member of Sigma Nu. The
wedding date has not been set.

and Miss Helen Carson motored to Eu
gene for the event. They remained in
Eugene for the week end and attended
the U. of O.-O. A. C. football game at
Corvallis Saturday.
Lost Lake Trapper Disappears
Lost Lake road crews and forest
fficials Tuesday expressed alarm over
trapper by the name or Walker, who
isappeared from his lakeside camp a
week ago. W. A. Langille, superin
tendent of forestry road work, says

only to learn that no one had seen the
man. It is feared that he baa fallen
victim to some injury in a remote
spot.
