The service :whs conducted at Riverside church, where Kent Shoemaker, commander ol Hie I'ost, presided. Tno meeting was one of the most t impressive ones ever held in Hood Kiv i er. Eighty ex-service men, wearing i their uniforms, marched into the church in a body. The thinning ranks of the blue clad veterans of the Civil war i were- present. The big church wa i crowded. Rev. W. H. Hoddy delivered a memorial sermon and presentation of i memorial certificates, a gift of the ' French government, was made bv Capt. Ge .. R. Wilbur. French memorial certificates were presented for the following men : Wil liam bucian Carson, Karl Roberts, in. Ah ert Kreig, Fdward Guy Kastman, Walter 1'lng. Albert l ewis Gran.-trom, Harvey L. Shearer and Marshall I'ineo. The latter was a Hood River man who wa.4 ferving in France with the Cana dian armv. HOOD RIVER LEADS RED CROSS CHAPTERS A final summing up of the December drive for Red Cross memberships shews Hood River county to have led the state. A total of G03, represent ! g 1UJ per cent of the funds ot the year The Red Cross Chapter has appointed a relief committee to assist in caring for influenza patients. The committee is composed of the following: Rev. W. H. lioddy, Mrs. Wm. Stewart. Mrs. li. R. Mailer, K. W. Sinclair. Mrs. L. M. lier.tley and Mrs. J. W. Ingalis. All women of the county who have had experience in nursing have been askeii to register with Mrs. Stewart. While the health condition han been serious here the past PI days because of much influenza and small pox and several cases of scarlet fever. Dr. V. it.
