Kluroin, Cantieltl Co. iu!-tf APPLES EATEN BY NEW YEAR FROUCERS That red Hood River apples were in demand as a refreshment for the people of San Francisco engaged in their annual celefcratioo of New Year's night, is the feature of a story re ceived here from the city of the Golden Gate. An enterprising owner of a billiard and pool parlor on Market street, said to be one of the finest places of its kind in America, pur chased a large supply of Hood River j fruit, packed by the Association, and made an enticing display of the apples and Hood River Apple Vinegar Co. cider in the front of the parlcrs. The apples, it is said, seemed to be in greater demand than wines, of which one always thinks when he re calls a San Francisco New Year's night in which he has participated. The score of boxes of apples were sold early in the evening, despite the price of 25 cents each, and it was necessary to hurry a truck for more fruit. In telling of his experiences with Tanlac, Mr. Thomson said: "I feel it my duty to tell everybody how Tanlac restored my broken down health, for the only way I found out about this wonderful medicine whs through others telling how it helped them. "I Fullered from a rheumatic condi tion of the svstem for fifteen years," continued Mr. Thomson, "urid kept getting wore all the time. My kid neys worried me, too, for the laht two years and the misery in rnv bu.'k was eo terrible 1 thought at times I would suiely break in two. My Ics and knees would draw up till my muscles felt like they were tied in knots and ached no bad 1 could hardly hear to have anything touch them. 1 was so badly constipated, that I had to take something for this condition every two . or three days, and my troubles weighed on me eo and pulled me down till they nearly put me out of business. 1 lost weight, and felt so tired and worn out all the time that it was all 1 could do to drag myself oft to my work. "Well, 1 tried everything I could hear of, but got no better, and nud begun to think there was no help for me at all. 1 was in Snyder, Oklahoma, ; when I first heard about Tanlac. 1 Everybody there was taking ,it, and' the results they were getting were so remarkable that I bought some my self j to try. Why, 1 personally know one; lady who was down in bed with rheu matism for six months and her friends had given her up to die. She took Tanlac and is now up and doing her own work, as well as ever, and 1 could ; tell you of many other cases. Hut to get back to my own case, 1 felt so much better alter taking my first bot tle that I kept on with it till .now my j rheumatism and kidney troubles have ' been entirely relieved, my constipation has been removed and 1 have actually gained thirty four pounds in weight. 1 1 am stronger and better than 1 have I been in years, 1 work as hard as a man I half my age and it don't hurt me a bit "1 have already told many people j about the way Tanlac has fixed me;up j and I expect to tell many more for I think Tanlac is the best medicine any body can tae." Tanlac is sold in Hood River by the Kresse Orug Co. Adv. Twins Are llis'n (From Oregon Voter) Senator J. R. Nickelsen, of Hood! River, objects to one portion of his I biography as printed in "Who's Who", 1 where he is credited with being the I grandfather of twin boys. Closer examination of the original i manuscript shows that he is the father i of three sons, one in the niedicl d- ! partment of the army and the four year old twin sons at home. As the senator was only born in '6!l and being duly proud of the "two to oncet," we herewith offer this cor rection. Postoffice Contract Not Let Because, it is stated, of lack of re sponse on Wednesday, January 15, when bids were called tor on furnish ing quarters for the local postoffice, the lettting of a contract has been postponed. The only formal bid was submitted by the Masonic hxlge, which owns the building where the orlice is now located. The bid, however, did not enter in sufficient detail in furnish ings for the proposed new home. It is proposed to devote the entire street Moor space of the Masonic building to postoffice purposes. No ;reat Act of Heroism Required If some great act of heroism was necessary to protect a child from croup, no mother would hesitate to protect her offspring, but when it is only necessary to keep at hand a bottle of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy and give it as soon as the first indication of croup appears, there are many who neglect it. Chamberlain's Cough Remedy is within the reach of all and is prompt and effectual. $25,856.05 $25,856.05 JESSIE M. BISHOP, County Treasurer.
