300 YEAR OLD PROPH
ECY COMES TRUE
The following, taken from the Salem
Capital Journal, which reprinted it
from an eastern newspaper, was hand
ed to The Glacier by O. P. Dabney.
A part of 'an extraordinary Latin
prophecy made by Brother Johannes in
the year 1600 is quoted in a recent is
sue of the Figaro. In deciphering the
allegory it must be remembered that
France is represented by a cock, Eng
land by a leopard, Russia by a white
eagle, Germany by a black eagle, and
Austria by the "other eagle, ' while
the lamb stands for justice, mercy and
truth.

will manifest himself. His army will

agined. m. There will be Christians
among the legions and there will be
Mohammedans and savage soldiers
among the defenders of the Lamb.
,"For the first time the Lamb will be
red. There will not be a single spot in
the Christian world that will not be
red, and red will be the heavens, the
earth, the waters and even the air, for
blood will flow in the domains of the
four elements at once.'jt
!,-"The Black Eagle will throw him
self on the Cock, who will lose many
feathers, but will strike back heroic
ally with his spurs. He soon would be
crushed were it not for the help of the
Leopard and his claws.
"The Black Eagle will come from
the country of Luther, will surprise
the Cock from another side, and will
invade the country of the Cock up to
the middle of it.
"The White Eagle, coming from the
north, will surprise the Black Eagle
spirit, and of the purging of humanity,

the country of the Antichrist from one
end to another.
"The Black Eagle will see himself
forced to liberate the Cock in order to
fight the White Eagle, and the Cock
will pursue the Black Eagle into the
country of the Antichrist to help the
White Eagle.
"The battles fought up to then will
be as nothing compared to those which
will take place in the country of Lu
ther, for the seven angels will to
gether pour in the fire of their censers
on the impious earth which signifies
that the Lamb will order the extermin
ation of the race of Antichrist.
"When the Beast sees that he is lost
he will become furious, and for many
months the beak of the White Eagle,
the claws of the Leopard and the spurs
of the Cock will furiously strike at
him. .
"They will cross over the bodies of
the slain, and these, in places, will
change the course of the waters. They

lies, the leading commandants and the
princes, because to the carnage made
by the armies will be joined the whole
sale death of those who will die of
hunger or of the pest.
"The Antichrist will ask many times
for peace, but the seven angels who
walk in front of the three animals de
fending the Lamb have declared that
victory will only be granted on the con
dition that the Antichrist be crushed
like straw on the barn floor.
"The executors of the justice of the
Lamb cannot stop fighting as long as
the Antichrist possesses soldiers to
fight against them.
"That which makes the decree of the
Lamb so implacable is that the Anti
christ has pretended to be a follower
or Christ, and to act in His name, and
if he does not perish the fruit of the
Redeemer would be lost, and the doors
of Hades would prevail against the
Jsavior.
"The fight which will take place
where the Antichrits iorges his arms
will not in any way be a human fight
(This may have reference to Essen,
where the Krupp works are, and many
authorities believe that the decisive
battle may take place in Westphalia.)
"The three animals defending the
Lamb will extermniate the last army
ot the Antichrist, but they will be
torced to erect on the battlefield a
phvre as lartre as a citv. for the bodies
of the dead will change the aspect of
the countryside as there will be
mounds of the slain.
"The Antichrist will lose his crown.
and will die in solitude and madness.
His empire will be divided into 22
states, but none of them will any long
er possess fortress, armies or vessels.
(Curiously enough, this number coin'
cides with the number ot German
states.)
"The White Eagle, by the order of
St. Michael, will drive the Crescent
from Europe, and will install Ihimself
in Constantinople.
"Then will begin an era of peace and
prosperity for the earth, and there will
be no more wars, each nation being
governed according to its desires, and
living according to the rules of justice,
"There will no longer be Lutherans
or Schismatics. The Lamb will reign
and supreme happiness of humanity
will begin.
Happy will be those who, escaping
the perils of that period, will be able
to enjoy the fruit of the reign of the
spirit, and of the purging of humanity.
which can only come after the defeat
of the Antichrist.

FEDERAL TEXTILE MAN
DROPS DEAD HERE
Z The sudden death here Saturday
night of S. a. Miller, textile expert in
the quartermaster's department of the
United States Army, whose headquar
ters were at Fort Mason, San Francis
co. according to the verdict of a jury
called by S. E. Bartmess Sunday morn
ing, was caused by heart trouble.
Mr. Miller, accompanied by George
Sault. superintendent of woollen mill
at Washougal, was returning from the
city to the Cottage Farm resort at
about 11.30 when the fatal stroke came
in the midst of a casual conversation
and he dropped in his tracks, death be
ing instantaneous. The two men were
leisurely walking? past the ranch place
of F. G. Church, and Mr. Sault aroused
the family to secure aid. While ordi
narily, according to officials, no inquest
would have been necessary, such action
was considered advisable since Mr.
Miller was a stanger.
The stricken man and Mr. Sault came
here Saturday over the Highway with
C. M. Bishop, one of the owners of
Washougal and Pendleton Woolen
mills. Leaving bis guests at the Cot
tage Farm, Mr. Bishop had gone to
spend the week end with relatives.
After a hearty dinner the two men
journeyed to the city to visit the pic
ture shows. On the return walk of
about a mile and a half. Mr. Miller,
whose atre is estimated at about 60
years, when the two men were climb
ing a steep graue, remaricea mat ne
was a victim of chronic indigestion
and that he was feeling the effects of
the hearty dinner.
The body of the stricken man was
shipped east Monday noon to the old
home at Winchester, Va., where Mr.
Millers family resided. Mr. Sillier
was a member of the Masonic lodge.

His adventures at the hands of Misa
Havisham, his love affair with the de

Mark Moe Tells of Aviation Corps
In a letter Mark Moe, son of the
publisher of the Glacier, who is now
stationed at Camp Kelly, at San An
tonia, Tex., has the following to say
of the Aviation Corps, of which he is
a member:
"I am writing this letter in the new
Y. M. C. A. just built here, near the
camp, for the benefit of the soldies. It
is open to the man in uniform and is,
considerately, a luxury.
"There are perhaps 200 or 300 men
in here now, writing, the same as I.
"In Camp Kelly there are nearly
6,000 men now. Some of them will be
shipped north soon. Thirty squadrons
will stay here, however, making the
largest aviation field in the world.
There are twelve aeroplanes to each
squadron, and about 170 men.
"I haven't been assigned to a squad
ron yet, though I expect to be soon,
and very likely I'll stay here. We are
living in tents now, but barracks are
being built rapidly and it won't be
long until we will learn to .like Texas.
Expect to be in France in five or six
months, though. That ia what I am
hoping for.
"Of course it has been quite hot
down here all the time, but it isn't
oppressive. No one suffers from it.
'The birdmen,' as we are called, have
lots of pride. We are in the 'highest'
branch of the service. When a man ia
in this branch he can't transfer into
any lower, although others can trans
fer into this."
Keep Fit and Feel Fine.
Foley Cathartic Tablets are a whole
some physic that thoroughly cleanse the
bowels, sweeten the stomach and arouse
the liver. For indigestion, billiousDSes,
bad breath, bloating, gast or constipa
tion, no remedy is more highly recom
mended. Sluggish bowels are the direct
cause of many ills and the indirect cause
of many more. Undigested food poisons
the whole system. Don't be careless.
See that your bowels are regular. Keep
fit. Then jrou will feel floe. Sold every-whan.
