Commencement exercises will be held
on May 19. On that date about 85 sen
iors will receive their diplomas. From
present indications only a few or them
will have to put 1n extra time to com
plete their courses. In typewriting and
bookkeeping some are behind.
The baseball team will play ita first
regualr game Saturday at lhe Dalles,
against their most worthy opponents in
yeara gone by. The team- haa elected

shortstop, and a more worthy successor
to that old star could not be found.
There is no telling bow the game up
there will come out, but there will be
at least a score on both sides. The lo
cal boys have bad good batting prac
tice under tbe expert tutelage of Coach
Cohoon, who is a professions! pitcher
himself.
The class track meet is being run off
in sections. Tbe results will be given
in next week's issue.
Most people like publicity. But it
must be that the seniors are an excep
tion to the rule, for they are exceed
ingly backward about producing those
pictures of themselves, which the ed
itor of the Mascot covets so much.
Considerable enthusiasm is being
aroused in tennis aa to who will be on
the team. All of last year'a stars
graduated, leaving a few punks fight
ing for tbe honors. The tryouts will
be held soon, according to Manager
Bentley. Those who are working hard
est for the team are Shank, Loving,
Bentley, Moe, Breed, Gassoway, Car
nine and McCIanathan.
The last literary of the present school
year will be held thia evening.
