A number of years ago, 17 I think,
the home waa aaddened by the sudden
death of a son. Carlos, who was
drowned, and five years ago the hus
band, Alfred Wood, passed away.
By nature unassuming the many kind
deeds which those who knew Mrs. Wood
will remember, weie done in a quiet
way and won for her fi lends whose
regard was listing. During her last
illness, which waa lingering, her suffer
ings were borne uncomplainingly and
her thoughts were alwaya for the com
fort of those about her and her interest
in friends and acquaintances and their
interests was often expressed. Her
diughters, Mrs. S.D. Fisher, of Mosier,
and Mrs. Byron Kodgers, of Hood Kiv-
er, and son, Clinton Wood, of Odell. at
tended her and never had mother more
faithful and devoted care.
She ia survived by these three child
ren, seven grandchildren, two sisters
and many other relatives and many,
many friends who will be lonely, but
who know that hers has been a life
whose reward is sure. She passed away
Saturday evening. Funeial services
were held Monday forenoon at the '
home. I
Mrs. Zellar' sister, Mrs. L. L. Tur-

while here she will look after her prop

The newly formed dancing club of
Odell gave its first informal dancing
party last Friday evening. It was well
attended and all enjoyed a pleasant
evening, lhe piano has been paid for

Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Zellar returned
home Friday. Mr. Zellar went to Con
don and brought home his horse which
had been left there for the winter.
Mrs. Zellar waited in Portland until
Mr. Zellar had time to make the trip to

With an early apple season coming on
it is well to prepare for frosts. Straw is
the cheapest medium to use and n case
it is not needed it can be used for bed

small and not lost whether it is used for
