A Real Woman's Play
The normal being craves for happi
ness and in "The Price" which will
appear here at the opera house Mon
day, Dec. 2'J, is built the pure and
beautiful idea that we must get our
happiness from the natural sources and
not at the expense of others.
The moral lesson taught in this broad
and interesting theme is one that will
live in the hearts of the mother,
daughter, father and son. There are
many among us into whose lives the
theme has entered in one phase or
another and the subject has been
treated by the author, George Broad
hurst, with such consummate skill that
"The Price" has been pronounced the
best play of its kind since "Camille."
"The Price" cannot be called a prob
lem play, us the author has not tried
to solve a problem, he simply shows
with touches that are deft and certain
a picture of life, real and human. It
is a play of big moments which fairly
pulsate with heart interest and it is
said that Mia Edna Marshall, who
portrays the leading role, imparts to
the character of "Ethel Toscani" such
charm and womanliness, that gets the
entire sj mpathy of the audience and
wins for tier several curtain calls at
the end of the last act.

Forest Notes
The forest protlucts laboratory at
Madison, Wis., has made 4,000 tests on
the strength of American woods.
The gathering and selling of acorns
is a new industry, in Arkansas, to
supply eastern nursery firms with
material for forest planting.
Thirty different wood preservatives
are in commercial use in the United
States ; many of them utilize creosote
of one sort or another ; others require
chemical salts.
, Last year the forest service distrib
uted 116,000 basket willow cuttings:
15,000 to forest schools, 20,000 to agri
cutlural experiment stations, and
81,000 to individuals.
More than 800,000 horsepower has
been developed from streams on na
tional forests under government regu
lation. This represents the output
under conditions 01 lowest stream now.
